RUM Sizing Tips

To calculate the number of probes you can use the following:

• 200 Mbps per probe of sustained Http traffic if the following.

Gzip – yes. Snapshot on Error – No. Text Pattern Events – No.

• 90 Mbps per probe of sustained HTTP traffic if the following.

Gzip – yes. Snapshot on Error– 1. Text Pattern Events – 10.

• 50 Mbps per probe of sustained HTTPS traffic if the following.

Gzip – yes. Snapshot on Error– 1. Text Pattern Events – 10.

 

 

Plain filtered traffic w/o snapshot text pattern is 150MB. SSL with software decryption adds 10% overhead.
10 text pattern event cost 100MB, so you are down to 50MB.
